Design Workflow: From Concept to Development
5 min reading
Research & Discovery
Before jumping into design, it’s crucial to understand the users, market, and business goals. This includes:
•Conducting user interviews and surveys
•Analyzing competitors and industry trends
•Mapping out user journeys and key pain points
Wireframing & Concept Validation
Early-stage wireframes help define layout and structure without distractions from visuals. During this phase, I:
• Sketch out different flows and information hierarchies
• Validate ideas through quick testing and feedback loops
•Adjust concepts based on user insights before moving to high-fidelity design
Branding & UI Design
Once the structure is solid, I focus on visual identity and aesthetics, ensuring:
•A consistent design system (typography, colors, components, tokens…)
•Accessibility and clarity in UI elements
•A seamless experience across desktop & mobile
Prototyping & Testing
Prototypes bring the design to life. This step allows:
•Usability testing before development
•Iteration based on real user behavior
•Early feedback from stakeholders and developers
Handoff & Collaboration with a Team
Design handoff isn’t just about providing files—it’s about ensuring smooth execution. I work closely with developers to:
•Provide clear documentation in Figma (variables, components, interactions)
•Maintain design consistency throughout the build
•Support and adjust designs as needed during implementation
Adaptability in Workflow
Not every project follows this exact order—some start with brand guidelines, while others need rapid prototyping first. The key is flexibility and collaboration, adapting the process to fit the project’s specific needs.
